Hello, for start sorry for english (not german) topic. Don't know german language yet, but I hope someone will be able to help me, I'll be really gratefull. If You don't have time for "story" You can skip to point 2.

    1. So... I'm from Poland and I'm intern (assistenarzt) for next 13months. After that - specialization and I wanted to move to Austria and work there as a doctor, but as lot of You probably know there are offten problems with approving doctor's diplomas if You're foreigner.

    http://eur-lex.europa.eu/legal-conte...5L0036&from=EN
So basic I checked EU directive 2005/36/EC (link above). Annex 5.1.3 (page 61) says minimal time of training for approving foreign doctor's diplomas in EEA countries.
I'm interesting in General (Internal) Medicine (Innere Medizin) specializations - especially Endocrynology and Cardiology - and here starts the problems with polish diplomas.

    2. So Annex 5.1.3 of directive says that approving specialist Endocrynologist or Cardiologist diploma needs minimum 3 years of training:

    - Poland system:
Before 2014 becoming specialist Endocrynologist in Poland looked like that: 5 years of General medicine + 3 years of Endocrynology = specialist Endocrynologist and it was agreed with directive 2005/36/EC = polish diplomas was approving in EEA countries.
After 2014 we have "modular specializations" - we have cut off learning time - for example specialist Endocrynologist needs now 3 years of General Medicine + 2 years of Endocrynology. So 5 years instead 8 years to become Endocrynologist sounds cool, but if I want to move and work as Endocrynologist in another EEA country = You can't becouse it doesn't fulfill 3 years of Endocrynology training = diplomas not approved, pitty, BUT...

    - Austria system = no General Medicine specializations?
I wanted to understand how works training in General Medicine specializations in Austria? In directive I found that in annex 5.1.3 of directive, Austria have empty spot in General Medicine specializations (for Austria Endocrynology page 76=blank, Cardiology page 74=blank of directive). What does mean? That You don't have "specialist Endocrynologist"? I know it isn't true becouse I found that You have specialists "Endokrinologie und Stoffwechselerkrankungen". But how to become one? Any Innere Medicine specialist is Endocrynologist in Your country? How looks learning path to become specialist "Endokrinologie und Stoffwechselerkrankungen" or "Kardiologie"?

I'm glad that I found this out, becouse I still have chance that my 3+2 Endocrynologist specialist diploma would be approved in Your country. If I wish to work as Endocrynologist in Germany (or mostly all of EEA countries) I would be burned with polish diploma.

Do you really want to go to Austria? Actually large quanities of Austrian physicians leave the country. In Austrian newspapers they write something about 40 %. => http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/25931135 My advise. Do not go to Austria.

Thank You for response, didn't knew that doctors in Austria haven't easy life.
ATM I'm finishing medicine school (6th year), so maybe after intern and specialization - around 7-8 years from now, when I ll be moving it will change a bit, I hope... I didn't choose Austria only becouse of $ as usually polish immigrants do ; )
