Medizinstudium als Fernstudium in Malta

Erinnert mich an eine Hand voll Pflegestudentinnen, die ich damals im Praktikum kennengelernt habe, die irgendwie alle der festen Überzeugung waren, sobald sie den Bachelor haben kämen sie ohne Probleme ins Medizinstudium.

Ich war immer fest davon überzeugt, dass das Pflegestudium eingerichtet wurde, um zu verhindern, dass Pflegende nach der Ausbildung/dem Studium noch Medizin studieren, weil sie über die Zweitstudiumsquote kaum reinkommen.

Was ist jetzt mit EDU? „Das operative Geschäft“ ruht vorübergehend und das bleibt jetzt einfach so? Niemand mehr aufnehmen und Unternehmen gar nicht mehr betreiben, keine Einnahmen, niemand arbeitet dort aber irgendwie existiert Scam-Uni weiterhin? Kein „wi wonnt to wörk äs docktors“ und wir sind die „Ärzte in Europa“?

Dennoch würde mich ein Update von seiten der Studierenden interessieren?

Dies ist mein letzter Post zu diesem Thema. Für mich ist EDU vorbei.

Ursprünglich sollte der Master heute beginnen, jedoch ist er immer noch nicht neuakkreditiert, und die längst überfällige Reakkreditierung von EDU für die nächsten fünf Jahre steht nach wie vor aus. Die Geschäftsleitung verkündete am 24. August:
„Dear students and team,
We received very good news concerning the pending re-accreditation of EDU’s B.Med. and M.Med. programmes by MFHEA: The MFHEA informed us that they accept the AHPGS international programme accreditation for the re-accreditation of both the B.Med. and the M.Med. programme.
We will now work with the MFHEA to clarify some open questions and agree on any formality in this context. With this, we are confident to start the next M.Med. cohort soon.
While this does not yet address the professional recognition, we regard this step as a very positive signal, especially since the MFHEA made the decision within a few days.“

Im Anschluss schien alles in Ordnung zu sein, bis vor mehr als einem Monat folgende Nachricht kam:

„Dear Students,
It is with heavy hearts and deep frustration that we must share sombre news regarding the future of EDU. Despite tireless efforts over the past three years to secure professional recognition, we have over the last three weeks hit a regulatory dead-end of organization and governance neglect of the Maltese accreditation/recognition regime that leaves us no other option but to wind up operations.
We initially sought program-level professional recognition from the Medical Council, only to be informed three years later that they were not the competent authority for such matters. Further attempts to clarify the responsible body, including correspondence with the Prime Minister, the Minister of Health, and the Minister of Education, have yielded no results. Both the Ministry of Education and the MHEA have also disclaimed responsibility for our program's professional recognition. This last week, all possible doors were closed.
This protracted and opaque process stands in stark contrast to the ideals of transparency and integrity that we associate with the European Higher Education space. It is disheartening to note that this situation in Malta does not align with the standards expected within this larger community.
With no prospects for professional recognition left, we can no longer justify operating EDUs medical programmes.
This last year especially has been especially hard, and your dedication has been outstanding. For that, we thank you deeply.
While we navigate this challenging period, we want to reassure you that we will do everything in our power to support you. We understand the frustration and despair that this situation may cause, and we are committed to maintaining open lines of communication as we work through next steps.
Operationally, you will be affected in the following ways:
B.Med Nov 20:
You are close to your graduation, and we want to help you finish with your bachelor's degree. Here, we seek to deliver the HSE and clinical rotation as planned, grade the last thesis papers.
Please prepare for your HE as planned and deliver your bachelor thesis on time!
We will come back with more information on how we'll organise the OSCEs next week.

Please finish your clinical rotation to conclude your current module. Unfortunately, we will not be able to continue after this.

For all:
We will try to close any outstanding modules for our students possible by delivering HSE resits.
We will issue transcripts and graduation documents supporting the transition to other institutions.
We will come back with information on the November OSCE.
We want to express our deepest apologies and profound sadness for the unfortunate turn of events that brings an abrupt end to your educational journey with us. We recognize the dreams, time, and hard work you've invested in your pursuit of a medical degree, and it weighs heavily on our hearts to know that the abhorrent organization and governance neglect of the Maltese accreditation regime have cost you so much. We are committed to doing everything within our power to assist you through this difficult transition. Thank you for the privilege of being part of your academic lives, even if it was cut short under circumstances beyond our control.“

Leider konnte keine Lösung gefunden werden, und die Bemühungen der Studierenden, die nach Malta gereist sind, um mit den zuständigen Behörden zu sprechen, führten nicht zu einer Lösung.

EDU hat auch den Studierenden mitgeteilt, dass sie nicht über die finanziellen Mittel verfügen, um das letzte Jahr des Masterstudiums abzuschließen, was zumindest den Versuch einer individuellen Anerkennung der Approbation ermöglicht hätte.

Im Gegensatz zu ihrer Zusage hat EDU nicht bei dem Transfer zu anderen Universitäten unterstützt. Eine Option, nach Maastricht zu wechseln, steht nicht zur Verfügung. Die einzige Möglichkeit besteht darin, dass, sofern EDU den Betrieb fortsetzt, die Studierenden ihre Leistungen von anderen Universitäten anerkennen lassen können.

Einige Studierende haben sich entschieden, das erste Semester erneut an privaten deutschen Universitäten zu beginnen, während andere sich für eine Online-Universität in der Ukraine entschieden haben, die sowohl einen polnischen als auch einen maltesischen Campus hat, dort wurden sie höher eingestuft.

Ein weiterer Teil sucht immer noch nach Alternativen an anderen privaten Universitäten in der EU, wobei es auch dort Akkreditierungsprobleme gibt.

.... während andere sich für eine Online-Universität in der Ukraine entschieden haben, die sowohl einen polnischen als auch einen maltesischen Campus hat, dort wurden sie höher eingestuft.

Geht es da um die KMU oder was anderes? Und ist es dnan überhaupt in der EU anerkannt (theoretisch ja ukrainische Uni, wenn auch Campus in der EU)?
